The ship slips out through Government Cut as if catching then exhaling the last molten breath of day, and there—spread like a jeweled tapestry beneath a vault of impossible blue—the Miami skyline fades in the distance. The causeway unspools in a slender arc, a ribbon of motion and intention, threading the darkening teal of Biscayne Bay to the distant geometry of glass and steel. The skyline glows in increments—rose, amber, then a bruised violet—each tower holding the sun a heartbeat longer before surrendering it to the Atlantic hush. Above, the sky opens like a cathedral, clouds feathered and wind-brushed, as though some invisible hand had tried to soften the edge between departure and return. A lone figure leans into the rail, suspended between land and water, between the known pulse of the city and the open grammar of the sea.
