Dayhawks in the Lounge
Dayhawks in the Lounge
Captured Dayhawks in the Lounge on my phone because all cameras come with phones these days. It happened one morning in the coffee lounge of the Celebrity Beyond on a beautiful Caribbean cruise. The moment I saw the photo on my phone I knew it would become my homage to Edward Hopper's Nighthawks in the Diner.
In Dayhawks we see pretty much the same sense of subdued, almost enforced solitude (note the attention to smartphones) in a scene both commanded and defined by the light. Yes, the light was spectacular, pretty much as you see it in the artwork, and—yes—the Caribbean Sea was every bit as blue. Sometimes the art composes itself and you just have to get out of the way.
Each limited-edition giclée print is personally inspected, signed, and numbered by yours truly, then shipped unframed from my studio with a serialized Certificate of Authenticity.
