Quiet After the Storm

My wife and I were heading out the door, and I just couldn't resist the urge to snap this iconic scene: part Nighthawks, part Coen Brothers. The Anastasia Diner on Anastasia Island in St. Augustine describes itself as a traditional northeast diner with a southern flair, an altogether accurate and articulate description.

Quiet After the Storm was captured just after the lunch rush, right before they shut down for the day. I love how the colors—the browns and blues and reds and yellows and pinks—pop against the pale walls, the cool stainless steel, the beige tile floor, and the black industrial ceiling. Everything about it is relaxed yet anticipatory and alive!
