The waters of Silver Springs are reliably pure and gin clear 365 days a year, precisely why hundreds of movie and TV scenes have been filmed there over the decades, dating all the way back to the original Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan movies of the 1930s and 40s, and the iconic Creature from the Black Lagoon in the 1950s. The pier in this exquisite impressionist-style landscape was built as the set for the old B&W Sea Hunt TV show starring Lloyd Bridges in the 1960s.
