Loxahatchee Jewels

In certain small pockets of the Loxahatchee Cypress Swamp, those small patches mostly unobstructed by the canopy, bright green duckweed grows like a dense carpet atop the surface of the shallows. The duckweed collects droplets of rain water that shimmer like diamonds in the bright sunlight. In this gorgeous artwork a red leaf rests atop it all like a royal crown ruby.
